I am now thinking between a elephant or lion picture to do next. Both are favourites of mine as is the leopard as well.
'Buster'
Life in Africa.
We have now settled down well into life down here in Blantyre. We have a supermarket and several more shops to look in. One even as an escalator recently installed in the new building, which for the first week was great fun to those who had never seen one before. The local children had such fun. You ride up and then you ride down. Some could do it for the whole morning. They also had a coffee bar on that top floor, which played pop music, and made great milkshakes. Like going to heaven for a treat. Bit of a bind always having to use the stairs until the novelty of an escalator wore off.
There is also have a lovely hotel here which serves coffee and cake and also has the occasional event on. One time we went to a casino night there held by one of the large firms. I had a glittery dress made for the occasion and piled up my hair and felt like a million dollars. I lost my few shillings on the first couple of tries at one of the tables, but it was great fun seeing it all. One large room was for the serious players, fortunes were made and lost so we heard. We just peeked in through the fug of smoke and clink of chips, then backed off.
One evening we came back and during the night from an evening out, were woken up with some scratching, scrabbling noises from our bedroom veranda, and a horrible wailing cry. Going out saw our cat Fluff sitting on the top of the spotlight above the veranda. It was used for lighting up the garden evening functions in previous times. This Siamese cat was supposed to be Klaus's but did everything it could to show her dislike to him. The only way we could get the cat down was for Klaus to go into another room so the cat could not see him as she disdainfully climbed down and came into the house. She did this quite frequently!! Fluff would also wait until she heard Klaus come back from work and then jump into his armchair and sit and glare when he came into the room. With a few 'kind words' she would slowly move off and sit somewhere else. Yes, she was totally in favour of me. I could do no wrong in her eyes! Fluff was definitely my cat. On the odd occasion I had to be away in hospital, Fluff would lie down under a bush and refuse to eat or drink, and end up on a drip at the vets. I would come back to a thinner cat, but at least alive thanks to everybody. But as soon as she heard me, she would tuck into her food and purr her heart away on my lap.
As a kitten
She looked just like this one.
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and all the very best. See you again in 2019
