I have started to fill in some of the background. Most of this will be done in soft pastel, then I can finish of other areas of the buffalo. Seemed to have got a lot more done this week.

Life in Africa.
We are on the move again. The project on the capital city is well under way so we are moving back to Blantyre. The company is building the presidential palace for the  President.
We went to our one and only real restaurant for a farewell meal which coincided with a friends special birthday. Celebration all round, I ended up drinking champagne out of the lid of a butter dish as they had run out of glasses. The things you can get up to when a youngster This was only a very small place, but fabulous food. Piri piri prawns to die for here.  Now we don't drink and drive, but in those days, traffic was scarce and cars seemed to know their own way home. Not that we ever drove drunk.
We now have a new rented house by the company. It was an ex- governor's house so landscaped gardens and much bigger than we have had before, diffeent style too. We even have a separate guest wing. All our staff moved with us and have nice new quarters in the grounds as well, and all electric, although you did get frequent power cuts.
Bambi our little dik-dik had a nice enclosure made and was allowed out on the lead until a proper fence was up. Sadly  after a few months a pack of dogs got in and killed him. It was so sad as he was loved by all, even when he playfully butted you with his little short horns!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
