A rather slow progress now trying to put the hairy hide in and making it look realistic. I can see my 'Boris' going for a mud bath soon! I find that  as  you work along you tend to notice other parts that need a little more attention, so you work on those, and then notice something else that needs a little more darkening or lightening up, so it takes twice as long just to do what you started.
Still he is coming along, and I am in no hurry to finish this picture.

Life in Africa.

Having sold my last old car, Klaus has bought me an old mini clubman that was a works car. It is a rather dull beige colour, not exciting, but has had a new engine put in. Lovely little car to run around in.
I decided one day it needed sorting out, so being a little artistic decided with the help of the gardener to paint it. Yes, paint a car. I bought some bright red and we covered the windows etc with newspaper, like you should and got to work. Wow, a fairly passable car. Showing it to Klaus when he came in, much to my horror, he had a laugh, he was not impressed and informed me that when I went out in the rain, and yes, it does rain in Africa, it would wash off. How was I supposed to know I used the wrong paint!!
We washed it all off and then I found a shop selling animal stickers like you would have in a nursery, so applied these all over the car. I now had a very different car, the only one like it in the whole of Africa I think.  My friends thought I had joined the 'flower power' movement. So I  had a fashionable quirky car to drive around it. Oh, what it is to be young and carefree. Everybody got to know it as it stood out like a car for a kindergarten .
Klaus then decided to do something about it and this is the only picture I have of it.
Bet you can't guess which car is mine.

Well why shouldn't I have the Rolls and chauffeur as well.  A little secret, this was taken after we moved again and my father who worked for President Banda as his mechanical supervisor for their cars , had borrowed it for the day. I now own a beautiful brand new looking car that can go in the rain.
Because my little car got known, even by the traffic cop who stood on his box directing traffic when busy, would put his hand up to stop traffic to let me through. If Klaus drove up he would grin and stop him to let me go through. Power to us ladies!.

Hope you are enjoying having a chuckle along with me.
Take care and catch up next week.
