The picture is slowly coming along now. I have put in the other eye so feel the picture is now slowly coming to life.
Getting the texture of the horns and the hide is rather challenging.

Life in Africa.

We are on the move again. Klaus has been promoted to General Manager and their firm will be constructing the capital buildings up in Lilongwe.
Unfortunately the firm that my father works for in Lilongwe have  not been paying the rent for the house my parents are in. The company that own several houses, as they do this one, is the large company that Klaus works for.   It became a standing joke that Klaus kicked his in-laws out of the house so as we could move into it. Felt very strange moving into a house that had been theirs, but they are now in another house and my father has gone to wok for a better bigger company. Mechanical supervisors especially with knowledge of large machinery are always needed.
'Cookie' our manservant has decided he is getting old now (which he was) and is retiring back to his village and family. We sadly saw him off with loads of goodies for all of them. He had become a good friend and taking me under his wing to teach 'the new little missy'.
We had no sooner walked into the house when their was a line of people arriving to ask for work. 'Samson' who had come with high recommendations from a family who was leaving, became our new family member.  An excellent cook.  Samson was with us for the rest of our years in Malawi. He saw to choosing our Gardener, you had to have tribes that were friends with each other. 'Panniko' was our Gardener.

My old house and now our new house.

A fairly common sight around when out in the bush.  'Taxi'!

Had an exciting letter. When we were down in Rhodesia I  had bought a lottery ticket, and Yes, we had won some money.  After a lot of um and arrhing, I bought my Bernina  electric sewing machine from a friend. It was nearly brand new, she wanted to buy a larger one. Mum could now have her old hand singer machine back.  I still use my same machine after 48 years.  It weighs a ton to lift up onto the table, but a fantastic reliable machine.

GOURDS.

Another new creation down at 'That Nice Shop' in Polis where we display and sell our gourds and some of my pictures. There are a lot of other talented artists showing their crafts as well in the shop. A shop well worth the visit.

Take care and hope you have a good week.
