17/11/2018

I now have an eye watching me while I work on my buffalo's face and horns. Once I have filled in some more on the face I will do the second eye. It is eerie having one watching me!

Life in Africa.

We have now settled down into our new life down here, and I am  making friends around. Klaus is busy at work, visiting building projects around that are going on.
He is off for some meetings down in Salisbury, Rhodesia  now  Zimbabwe, and I can go with him.  I have the chance of meeting up with some old friends who moved down there so us ladies will go and look at the shops, heaven, I can get some things that have been hard to find up in Malawi.
Bliss, sitting out on a shops veranda having coffee and cake and catching up on all the news. I had nearly forgotten what it is like to wander around a larger department store looking at all the goodies. A couple of hours later and some  bulging shopping bags filled with some household goodies and a little something for Klaus and me. Hope Klaus has more of these kind of meetings. Maybe South Africa next!
The next day Renata was meeting me at the hotel and we were off to the races for the day. I have never been horse-racing so this will be quite an event.
We join the crowds at the track to admire the horses and have a little flutter. well you never know! We had both allowed ourselves a tenner for the whole day, that way we would not be silly and loose vast amounts. Not that we were that rich in the first place, but have seen people go under this kind of way.
What a day we had, the excitement of it all, the cheering when your horse came in and just the vibrant atmosphere of it all. I was so proud that I had ended the day with having won a few pounds through out the day and left with a fiver more on top of my tenner. Fifteen pounds, a good day's fun.
That was my one and only time I have ever been to the races of any kind.

No pictures from the races, so a few from round and about.

GOURDS.

Three new hanging  gourd flower planters going down to 'That Nice Shop' in Polis where the others have been sold. Can be planted out with cacti or succulents, or just left with the flowers in them.

Wishing you all a good week and see you next time.
