20/10/2018

Back to normal this week. I had my friend as usual back at art and it's amazing what can be done when you are chatting away. We both still concentrate and have quiet periods, but a bit of nattering goes a long way.
As you can I have nearly completed the picture, all it needs now is touching up here and there, and some soft pastel in places, and  the castle in the clouds.
My next picture is going to be the buffalo, the only one of the 'Big Five' I have not done.

Life in Africa.

Great news today. The powers to be have decided Klaus will stay in Blantyre and have provided him with a company house. He is to supervise the next building project here. What a relief, although wedding plans still going ahead, although there is no rush now. But everything is booked.
Klaus had a car crash whilst sorting out our new company house down in Blantyre a few days before the wedding, and his car was a right off. Thankfully he was not injured, but had to quickly get another car for the drive up to Lilongwe where we were getting married.
The night before the wedding we sat round the dinning table arranging flowers for the next day, buttonholes were in the fridge, to keep them cool and stop wilting, bouquet being made  in the morning.
I had had a final fitting for my dress two days before, thank goodness our neighbour had managed to run it up for me. She did a great job at such short notice.
On the morning of the day I was hauled out of the hairdressers to check which car I wanted. Had a couple of mercs to choose from.
Then it was time to get dressed and on our way to the cathedral. A lovely service and whilst we were signing the register a couple of nuns sang the 'Ava Maria', and told us the wedding reminded them of the film 'The Sound of Music'  bless them.
The mural of the crucifixion behind us, is what Klaus spent many long months in the evenings and spare time doing it for  the church.  Each little piece had to be hand cut.   This was before I met him. What a beautiful mosaic it was.   Six weeks from our engagement and we were married.

'Well this is it my girl, can't change your mind now!

Looks like Klaus is being held at gunpoint!

The beautiful mosaic behind us.
