27/10/2018

I have been working on the picture, but could I get the clouds to gently cover the castle.' No.'  Try as I did it just did not look right so I took the castle and mountains out.  Now the picture was not too bad but something mystical was now missing.
Back with the pastels and managed to put another vague castle and some mountains back again.
That's it now.  Picture completed and looking better this time round.

Life in Africa.

A lovely reception at the hotel, they really did us proud, a buffet lounge and then we were off for our honeymoon in the afternoon. No evening reception and disco like they have these days.
For our honeymoon we were having the weekend at the lake.  A quick change out of our wedding gear, bags into the back of the car and we were off with tins rattling along the road from the back of the car. Had a few cheerful waves and shouts from some local before we untied the tins from the car.
Klaus had booked one of the chalets and after a rather dusty, bumpy road on rough stony dirt road we arrived.   Thankfully the car managed to make it.  It was a second hand one he had picked up cheaply until something else was sorted out.
The water on the lake was beautiful with the sun setting on the water. Klaus checked us in just to find we did not have a key for our chalet door, so he and the receptionist went off looking for the manager to sort this out. I sat on the veranda and waited for them. About an hour later they turned up, but no key. We were to have a watchmen sitting outside our door to guard the chalet. He was a little old wizened man with a large knobkerry. ( A thick stick with a knob on the end with nails in it!!) This on our wedding night!
We got settled in and then went up to the hotel for a drink. On the way back we met a lady who was in the next chalet from us and asked if we could give her some water. she hadn't any in the room and her husband was feeling unwell. We sorted her out with a bottle from the hotel and then retired.
Only had to cough or laugh and there was a rap on the door 'Ok. Bwana and Mamma' I here and guard you!!
Enough explanations.
The next day the manager offered to move us to a different chalet, yes, with a key.   Unfortunately this was the room that the couple had, who we had helped, and we heard he had sadly passed away in the night.  Thankfully the manager found another one for us, as we declined this one, not very romantic being in a room where someone had just died in.
On going into the hotel we were met with whistles. The hotel and the beach was the favourite place to go for the day, as you would going down to the seaside. A few called out ' Naughty, living in sin'. We felt a little stunned until someone told us that at the ceremony the priest had forgotten to sign the marriage certificate. He was flying off on holiday and had to rush. someone in the meantime had noticed this and got the bishop to sign it, then the priest remembered and got a fellow priest to come over and sign it. We now have a couple of copies signed by different people. Oh well, we have always like being different.

A weekend of swimming, sandcastles and having fun. When we were packing up to leave  the manager  asked if we could take the couples cases back to the police to be passed on to the wife. She had already left with family. We were told he had sadly passed away with a heart attack.

GOURDS.

Another pretty little bowl just been made. Going down to 'That Nice Shop' where our last blue gourd lamp has been sold.
