Slowly filling in and making my way down. As it is a kind of children's cartoon picture, I can feel free altering or changing something. I could have six fingers if I want!
BORNEO.
Today we are off to the water village and and whilst driving we were lucky enough to see Mt. Kinabalu showing it's peak, which we are told was a sign of 'good luck', as it is usually shrouded in mist.
We arrive at the water village and what an experience. Wooden and bamboo shacks and houses on stilts. Some looking like they are falling into the water, others quite sturdy. Rickety walkways everywhere, rubbish floating around under the house in the water, which we are told gets collected and tidied up every few months. Electricity poles and wires all around and strung up between the houses.
Swaying sun loungers on what is a veranda, and colourful flower hanging baskets around. Dogs and cats scamper around, and the odd whistle from a bird in a cage. Life is bustling all around.
But what greets you the most are the happy laughing villagers. Children come out to greet you, whilst others are splashing around in the water. We had taken sweets and pencils and books for the children, rather like in Africa, and were soon surrounded by a babbling chorus. We were shown around and taken into some of the homes to greet the owners and been shown some wares for sale. The villagers are pearl fishers, although others worked in the nearby town. So as you can imagine I came away with a beautiful pearl necklace, which when I wear it, memories come flooding back.
This was a very enjoyable place to visit, love and laughter all around. Makes you really appreciate what we have as everyday expected things in life. Although maybe the simple things in life are better!
We were offered drinks and cakes whilst stroking the pet cat.
And yes, we did get wet feet and shoes!
Who's for a game of cards?
On the way back we stopped off for a walk across the oldest rope bridge. Although how you are able to reach across both sides to hold on I do not know. I crawled up that part but once onto it I was OK, and managed not to fall in between the broken and rotted wooden slats. Thankfully it was over water as I do not like heights over solid ground, over water I am alright. Even walked with a swagger across.

Then back to the hotel to relax, swim and freshen up ready for some grilled lobster at the quayside restaurant under a star filled sky.
the god's are definitely looking down on us.
GOURDS.
Some gourd planters in the making. Look very pretty when planted up properly. Will show you the finished ones next week after they are painted and varnished.
Catch up with me next week and have a good week yourselves.
