11/08/2018

It is so hot out here that trying to work with the pastels is not easy. Fans are on but everything including me is sticky, managed to get a little further on though. Hopefully I will get a little more done next week, might try sitting in the freezer!

BORNEO.

Today we are off to visit one of the Buddhist temples.

Wow, this looks a beautiful place, so quiet and serene. The delicate perfume of blossoms in the air. Birds flitting amongst the trees, the rustle of a robe as a monk walks by,  birds singing in the trees. Wonder how many Buddha statues I will see.
Shoes off and cover up before we step inside. A kind lady gave me some joss sticks and showed me the correct way to wave them at the Buddha statue to give blessings whilst I was standing looking at one. A great feeling of peace comes over you here. The smell of incense wafts through.

Looking down from the top. Another hundred and one steps to climb. Well it felt like it.

Beautiful statues are around the grounds.

I feel I have so many pictures of this one temple, but I have to stop somewhere.
The gardens were beautiful, as were the buildings.

You are supposed to put your prayers in here and burn them to send them to the god.

The glitter of gold and silver and other colours as you walk around.

And this was just one of the many temples we went to.

This picture I think says it all.

GOURDS.

The new gourd planters ready to find new homes. Presently on show at 'That Nice Shop' in Polis.  Would look very pretty with assorted cacti planted in them.

Have a lovely week and see you next time.
