There is so much of interest to see out here you could spend years and never get round everything. We have little churches, big ones, monasteries wherever you seem to look. The little private chapels built by somebody in memory of a loved one standing in a field for anyone to have a look inside.
We found one built into a cave but later on in years they built a proper church next to it, but you can still go into the cave, pictures and icons around, farmers must light the odd candle here and there, as there is always a musty candle stale smell in there. Towards the back of the cave I would not like to venture in case something slithered out.Since we last looked at it they have built a stone surround around it.

This one here is just on the outskirts of Paphos, the old section is built into the mountains, where you can walk up the new steps and into a cave like room and look at what must be one of the oldest mosaic on the wall and ceiling. There is also has an interesting museum. The priests here are well known for looking after all the cats around the monastery.
Ayios Neophytos Monastry

Back down into Paphos, is the church Ayia Kyriaki, or as we know it St. Paul's church and the old ruin of 'St. Pauls Pillar' . This according to local legend is where St. Paul was tied to a pillar and lashed 39 times. In the grounds of  the 16th. century church of Ayia Kyriaki.  are some beautiful mosaics which are still being uncovered. You can also see the ruins and pillars which have been excavated. The church in the background is in full use. We go there for our Sunday mass. Even the sparrows join in the service with us.Once a year they also have the flower festival which is brilliant. A lot of hard work goes into all the arranging of the displays.

Time to stop off for a coffee or cold drink along the sea front and watch the people going by.

This weeks picture is 'Ratty' who was hiding up in our  pergola in the garden.

                       --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The picture of 'Ratty' is one I have in mind to do. I think it is quite a lovely little picture.
Now back to the subject in hand. I have continued along the hull of the boat, and started doing the 'eye'. A little more filling in on the background as I go along.
Do try and catch up with me again next week.
