This week we would have a little drive around this beautiful island that we live on. We have some spectacular scenery anyone could wish to see.
Thought today we would have a drive up towards the Troodos mountains, no snow here this time.
On the way up we pass one of the dams, nice to see it is full of water, something we have to be grateful for. Summers are dry and very hot and the dams have been known to get practically dry to the bottom. Not that long ago we had to have water shipped in to us to help out.

Continuing along our way up toward Cedar Valley, the smell of the trees here is wonderful, and the freshness of the mountain air. Should be bottled. It really is like perfume.

A few goats enjoying the sweetness of the grass, or pinching some fruit off the trees, and just watch out for any small landslides, have had to move a boulder or two off the road before now. Hang on to that one Klaus, it's a lot bigger than you!  Some really beautiful colours in the trees. I could put loads of pictures of trees etc, but you might get a little bored with it all.

Further on we come across the elusive 'Morfflon ' the wild  sheep.  would have liked a few more pictures of them, but they are such shy creatures, we were lucky enough to have seen them at all. They had just leaped over the road in front of the car and we just caught them on the side of the hill. There is a sanctuary where you can go to visit and hopefully see some. But there is nothing better than seeing them in the wild. Will probably be the only time we will.

Up here in Troodos is the big monastery 'The Holy Kykkos Monastry'. This is one monastery that has to be seen. There is the famous icon of the mother and child which has the face covered  all the time and has never been uncovered. Unfortunately you are not allowed to take pictures of the inside of the church or the museum. your camera has to be handed in at the entrance gate.
I do have a couple from the outside, and of the bell tower. You can also see the statue of Archbishop Makarios and his tomb.

Coming back down the views are spread out in front of you, makes you realise what a country this is.

Miles and miles of different changing landscape, and we are only an island.

I do hope you are enjoying the blog, sorry there are no elephants or such stomping around!

The boat seems to be growing slowly, maybe I was chatting too much to Jill this week who comes round to me to do her painting.
I have been filling in certain little areas that needed it and continuing with the boat.

Will make sure there is more for you to see next week.
