Wow, we have gone over the 2000 viewings, and I am now travelling to a lot more countries. I will now mark you all on the world map. It's great to have so many friends travelling with me.

'Come in No. 8'

Saw an old beetle car the other day in town and it reminded me of the time I helped Dad when we lived in Uganda, at one of the check points for the East African Car Rally.(I think that is what it was called. Going back a few years here.) The great excitement of it all. Waiting in anticipation for the next car to come in, the cloud of dust first. After all that driving, there were sure a lot of shaken bones around Check the time and send it on it's way. By the time we got home we were all dusty, tired and looking forward to the rest, and we hadn't been driving!!

Even a few unexpected  spectators to be seen, well, it does break up the daily routine of the munch on succulent leaves, that just happen to be at the roadside. Pity they make the food so dusty!

'Want a car slowing down, this big brute might have helped out, which tyre shall I puncture?' On the other hand,  that slow old banger might just have put an extra spurt on!

How about a sun hat on the way, can remember sitting with my nanny and being taught how to weave using strips of palm leaves or bamboo leaves. I helped her to make  some mats for her room, probably had to be redone when out of my sight. She had the patience of a saint, and can fondly look back and remember her grey wizened sparse hair, glasses on the end of her nose when digging jiggers out of your foot. This is a small insect/worm hat burrows under a toenail, lays it's eggs, looks like a boil coming up, very painful and the sac of eggs has to be taken out unbroken. The sac is smaller than a pinhead.
You picked these up from the dirt in the road when walking barefoot. Thankfully it was not that often.

Picture of the week is racing.

'Evening Gallop'

That's about all for this week, next week we are on our travels, a new country. Thought it was time for a change. To see where, come back next week. We will come back to Africa again later.

                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have had to get some more pencils, so have been in touch with Colin Bradley, who taught me how to use these pastels. It was great to catch up and to see all that he is doing now.
Colin has a great website, well worth going to especially for inspiring any person who wants to try their hand at creating something special.

Now on to my art,

I have finally managed to get my picture out and have been working on the foreground. This is just filling in and with a twiddle here and there. I don't want to overdo it.
The African Wild Dog is called 'The Painted Dog in Africa due to his distinctive markings by the local people. I rather like this picture.

"This is my space"

A finished picture

Look into my eyes!

Now I have to decide what to do next. Will sort through my photos and pictures this week-end and let you know next week what the new picture will be.
Do come back and join me again.
