A new country

'Selamat pagi'  ( Good Morning)

After a very long flight and a few time zones, we have arrived at the fantastic country of   Borneo

Gusty rain and flooding

Just our luck to have landed in a typhoon. Our pilot at the point of no return and having circled a few times, told us we had a window opening in the storm so were going for it! This has been a great journey. Refuelling in Aba Dubai, the amazing terminal here, a blaze of colour coming from the dome covered in mosaics. The golds and turquoise mosaics shimmering in the lights from the display cabinet's underneath, where I feasted my eyes on the jewellery. Didn't buy anything though. Then on to Brunei, changing to a smaller plane there for the trip to Kota Kinabalu.
We landed on a runway that goes into the sea, did not know this at the time, so seeing waves lashing up at the windows of the plane was an experience, wondered what the hell was happening! Indiana Jones had nothing on us! Don't think that most of the other passengers thought so! Now we know why there is a traveller's prayer on the plane's film screen at take offs. There were a lot of cheers and smiles when we landed. Slightly hair raising, but what an experience.

Thankfully we only had this for one day, then the rest of the holiday was glorious  weather, hot and humid but that was to be expected.
But what a country, so friendly and making you feel welcome.

I have never seen so many beautiful plants and flowering trees. I thought Africa had it's share, but here it's beautiful.

Hopefully you will enjoy our travels around as much as we did.
This will be with photo's, as I only painted one picture from here which I will  show  at a later stage as there is a story that goes with it. So be patient.
Sometime I will try and do another picture from this lovely time we had out here, but sometimes it's the photo's that tell the story.
In the meantime, imagine the sounds, the laughter, and the glorious scents that waft around in the air. Let your imagination take you here.

This is just the place to relax, listen to the birds, and be at one with nature.

Peace and Tranquillity
what more can you want!

That's it for this week, hope I have left you wanting to come back next week to see, explore and enjoy this new country.

Picture for the week is

Now to the arty, crafty side.
My African Wild Dog will be going in to be framed this week, so will have to find a place on the wall for it.
The new picture is an African lady. I have not done one for several years now so feel it is time I practised again. It is one thing to do something like this under the watchful eye of your teacher, but another when on your own. So here goes, ----

Catch up with me next week to see how far I have got.
