Working on the ear and going across the forehead to the other side. Making sure I get that old weather beaten, leathery look to the hide. I thought I had some wrinkles, but elephants have hundreds to put in!
Although  I have only just started this picture, I am enjoying it, my love of 'ellies' in me.

Unfortunately I do not have many photo's from different places we used to visit. Some of the albums are with my sister who lives in Spain.

The old fort at Mombasa.

Egypt, the land of Pharaohs, tombs and pyramids. Could easily have spent a lot more time here, but we got to see most of the well known sites. I rode a camel and raced my father up the road. My mother preferred to be driven up.
We went inside the pyramid and climbed up the rickety ladder to get to the tomb, then into the catacombs, and round the Spinx.

I have since then been to Egypt for a day trip from Cyprus. A lot more buildings are up now, gone are the open lands leading up to these wonders of the world.

                                                                         Mt.  Etna
We actually stopped whilst sailing, to see the spectacular view of this volcano at night.  Seeing the fiery smoke and sparks and some lava erupting.

Making our way along the coastline.

                                                                             Mt. Vesuvius.

We visited Pompeii to see the destruction caused when  Mt.Vesuvius erupted all those years ago. What an eye opener to what the world's nature can do. The destruction and loss of life that happened. something I will never forget seeing.

Sorrento

What a beautiful place this was, with orange trees lining the road and the exotic blooms around.

We then went on and saw 'The Isle of Capri'  but unfortunately I have no pictures of these beautiful places.

An evening up in the old part of Naples with a couple of officers for a night out and meal. Pasta's and freshly caught sea-food, washed down with vino. Heaven! We thought on the way back we had lost our way with the windy alleys and  so easy to take a wrong turn, but thankfully we made it back in time. There was only a couple of us teenage girls/ladies  on that trip so we always had escorts for dances or competition events on board. All well behaved.

Rock of Gibraltar.

One of the barbary apes inspecting my hair. My father had bought me a pair of cameo earrings here, and the ape deftly removed  one without me knowing, and then showed me it being dropped over the side.

Just a few memories to share while I can still remember them!

Wishing you all a good week and take care.
