6/10/2018

Sorry late today. Modern technology stopped by power cut, dead computer.  Thankfully all back to normal.

A little more work around on the waterfall, tree and some other areas. Now I am working on the horses. Does not look like I have done much this week.

Life in Africa.

During the week Klaus and I had been to what we called the 'Flea Pit' a hall where once a week they had a film, another day table tennis and badminton a different day. we used to enjoy playing some of these sports.
At the weekend on our third date we had been invited to a picnic with a couple Klaus knew. It was up in the forest area where tourists did not go normally. A really pretty place with a running stream and a waterfall. This is where we wished you were able to take more photo's as easily as you can now days. Klaus, Fatso his boxer and me.

The other couple  went searching for the odd cutting or two to take back for their garden, no garden centres out there. Coming back the wife noticed some cacti growing down the side of the waterfall. Her husband climbed down and brought back a cutting. Klaus being the gentlemen he was, jumped up and climbed down to get a flower for me. We heard a shout and then a moan, he had slipped and landed on a cactus. We all had a good laugh before I spent some time picking thorns out of his bottom, romantic! A little later we sat with our legs over the edge of the falls and Klaus proposed to me. Yes, third date, very quick work. I know there were very few bachelor men and single girls around at that time, but love has a way of just being there.

Yes, romantic it was, even better than a novel. Here we are sharing a crisp on that, waterfall behind us. And probably a sore bum! A date to remember. July 31st. 1970.
Later that evening we celebrated at home with mum and dad and a bottle of wine. The next day we went out into town and at the end of the small supermarket was a jewellers. They only had the one small diamond ring  that fitted, choice was very poor, as it was only a tiny shop. Most people would travel to South Africa for this kind of thing. Klaus grabbed my hand and managed to put the ring on my finger as we walked back along the road...........

GOURDS.

Another larger and different shaped swan.

Have a good week and stay safe.
