I was sorting through some photo's and started remembering about some of the pictures I first started doing, that is apart from art at school, where I nearly always drew palm trees, volcanoes and dugout canoes!
Whilst I was once working in a hairdressers in Uganda, the salon was practically opposite the Parliament buildings. I sketched the building in pen and ink. At that time I liked using pen and ink, and also dabbled a little in watercolours. I only had the usual children's little box set of paints. Art materials were not that easy to buy then, the little local shops that we had did not sell anything like the great choice of art materials we have now days. The travel agents who were next door to the salon liked the picture, and took it to be used in advertising travel. We moved away not long after to a different town so did not really see the result.
Our salon backed onto a cinema with it's side door next to our back door, and I would sneak out in between clients to watch little clips of Indian films "Bollywood" as they are now called, when they were testing the film and setting it up for that weeks showing. I loved the singing and the costumes. It was all so graceful. We used to get a new film once a week, and also an English one. No multi complexes in those days!
Parliament Buildings in Kampala.

I have now finished my Moomins and will take it down for framing next week.
It had turned out to be quite a cute little picture. Maybe somebody will buy it for a kiddies room.
Will now have to choose something else to do.
Have a good week.
