Africa Calls.

Chapter 25.

Blue and red lights flashed as landrovers suddenly appeared from where they had been tucked behind trees. Another vehicle positioned itself along the runway stopping the plane from being able to take off.
Racing up another lorry full of guards came up behind Van Piets vehicle and the guards quickly jumped out and within seconds had cordoned off the immediate area. The men were armed and  with their grim  looks looked like they could quite happily use their weapons. This was a fire first, ask questions later. They were specially trained men who abhorred this illegal capturing of their wildlife.
The arab had fled back into the plane and could be heard shouting at the pilot to take off. Although if he had looked out of a window, would have seen there was no way in hell they could move. The plane was surrounded, with vehicles parked back and front of the plane to stop it moving. Guns were all aimed straight at them.
Van Piet was soon in handcuffs and Dave with the police chief was reading him his rights, although both knew he would go down for a very long time. Prince Hassan was shouting  for diplomatic immunity and for his embassy in the capital to come and represent him,. He was royalty, he should be treated with the respect owing to him., they had no right to take him. He was not buying any animals illegally. He would send them the paperwork when he got back home.
"We have you on film receving the animals and the payment being passed over, the Commander of the parks said raising his voice . We have had you and your sellers under observation for a long time. But today is a very special day for us. You will both be behind bars tonight. I hope we never see you again, and stomped off to talk with some of his men.
Nick and Dawn had stood by the side of their landrover watching in awe as the events unfolded.
Van Piet had moved very quietly to the shade of  a nearby tree. The guard with him was unaware that he had slipped his handcuffs. Shuffling with his feet in a defeated attitude he watched as the guards attention wandered slightly to the commotion the arab was causing being led to a police van.The thought of some dark dank cell never to be heard of again, was not in his plan, but still sent a shiver of fear up his spine.
The guard turned to take his prisoner over, but in a flash Van Piet lashed out with his leg and the guard stumbled giving out a yell.
Van Piet made for a nearby vehicle, but Nick was onto him in the best rugby tackle of his life. Both came down with a crash and Van Piet was hauled up by a very ashamed but very angry guard. He was manhandled off under an armed guard and locked up in a separate vehicle.
The guards piled back into their lorries with a lot of cheerful chatter at their success and the commander walked back from where he had been talking with Dave and Jenny .
"I hear I must thank you both as well for your help, our country will be glad to be rid of these two men. I hear the others came to a rightful end. I will have no pity for them. We believe the other one 'Tabu' died out in the park.  Our patrols will still keep a look out for his body, but I expect we will not find anything.
With a wave and checking the men who were staying with the plane had their orders, he made for his vehicle.
They watched as the police van with the pilot and hostess joined the convey and slowly drove off.
Thunder rolled across the sky, and lightning flashed around. huge spats of rain started falling.
Thomas called " We better move, much rain coming now."
