Fame at last, well for the house anyway.
'An Oscar coming up!' |
Prospective buyers went through our minds. But no, they were students from an american university making a film. Having seen our property from the road, they asked if they could have a look around thinking it might suitable for their film. We agreed, so after showing them around, they were delighted with the house and setting. Just what they were looking for.'Why not,' we thought, always ready to try something new.
They arranged to come the following week to start filming.
Photos were taken of the inside lounge and dinning are, so that when they moved furniture around, everything could be put back into it's original place. Every night, they put everything back and our home was ours again until the next day. We had to be up very early, as some shots were taken at sunrise, and others towards evening. It was great fun watching the filming and how it was all done, but very tiring for us, as we had to keep out of the way while filming was going on. Having said that, I did stand and watch some of the filming. Having 3 dogs we had to keep them quiet and out of the way. A few times filming was stopped due to one of the dogs barking. One bark was left in to make it seem like a police dog was around. When nothing was happening we would sit and chat together, and one of the actors who loved dogs spent as much time as he could playing with them. The film was a light hearted comedy crime, a bit of dope, thankfully not real, they assured us and village life and love, and some arson thrown in, and well, if you ever see it on the shelf 'Gorillas' worth watching. We were sent a copy a year later after it was completed, and thoroughly enjoyed this light hearted comedy. We even recognised all the areas in the film especially as some of the scenes were in the new village we now live in. Did not know this at the time, a bit spooky.
They even advertised our property for us in the acknowledgement's.

On to the elephant which is now coming along quite well. I am gradually working my way down and across. As you can see a little of the background has been started so as I can get the contrast for the mother's tusks, but at the same time I will not rub off any of the pastel that I have already applied. It can be so easy to complete an animal and then realise you need to fill in behind it. That can be very difficult sometimes.
