Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a great New Year |
Our lovely holiday in Borneo is coming to an end. We will be very sorry to leave this wonderful, friendly country. Maybe, just maybe we will have the chance to come back for another visit. There is still so much to see.
A last trip into town and walk around the market place, must make sure I get in all the fragrances of food that are cooking on the stalls one last time. A last taste of the sesame chicken kebab, a rip mango and a quick hurry past the smelly fruit ( I think it is called Ugly Fruit) The odd bargain to be bought, some will probably end up in the back of a cupboard, but we all love statues, silks etc when offered to you!
Another trip to bid farewell to the Buddha statues, there are so many around. Managed to buy another little box set of some. Just a pity we can only see the real ones as we drive past. I know they are all around the country just waiting for me to rub their tummies for luck.
Remembering the happy faces from the water village. Who could forget the happy children and their smiling faces.
Very happy memories from here.
Not forgetting our other dear fiends. This was the experience of a lifetime, and to have touched one, well, that was something else.
These wonderful creatures we really fell in love with.
We have seen many monkey's, apes, primates, but nothing comes close to these for me.
This was my little darling one.
Back at the hotel we have our last sunset drink. Tonight we are having a dinner party and invited to watch some local dancing. Looking forward to this.
I have always loved seeing sunrises and sunsets, but out here they were spectacular
Now to an evening of entertainment, laughs and a fantastic show of tribal dancing and the skill of using blowpipes. Klaus even managed to hit and burst the balloon with one .Luckily no poisoned arrows around!
As to the dancing, let me tell you it was quick work with the feet. If those bamboo poles caught your ankle it was quite painful. Nothing like having to dance for your meal!
Yes, even I was dragged up to dance in the bamboo poles, and to dance a folk one as well. My hips I'm afraid could not sway so daintily to the music as these dainty ladies.
How to use the long blowpipe that would have had a poison arrow in it to kill for food. Luckily removed for this night!!
We also saw the old dance for going out head hunting.
We really had a wonderful evening, and the grace of the dancers was lovely.
The smiles and the laughter made this a great evening and a memorable ending to a fantastic holiday.
" Selamat Tinggal dear Borneo" (Goodbye)
Sorry to say this is the end of Borneo, hard to find a fitting picture to end with, but have chosen this. Well it is Christmas.

For my new picture I am going to do Darwin. This was my daughter's dog who sadly passed away.
I have made a start, but with such short hair and a lot of it being white, will have to be careful not to overdo it or have the board showing through. Still will have to see how it goes.
Once again, have a lovely Christmas and see you next week
