The picture is coming along nicely now. More quilting and weaving on Mr. Thumblejig's clothing. At least he can stop hopping along on one foot now! Leaves and grass etc to do.
Hippo's this week.
I was chatting to a customer in our shop 'That Nice Shop' here in Polis where I do a couple of shifts a week. She was buying a hippo statue as it was a favourite animal of hers. She wished she could see one in real life.
Reminded me of the time my husband and I were on a safari holiday and we had teamed up with a lovely Russian couple for the drives in the park.
Back at camp he would bring out hampers with all the fantastic goodies some of us only dream about. This time we had schnapps with our caviar and some rather moreish snacks. That night we had arranged with the night watchman to call us if any special animal was about.
Well, we had the call and both of us stumbled out in dressing gowns with camera at the ready to snap whatever was around.
Other campers came out fully dressed and there was us two, who could hardly see straight, let alone snap away at some animal that had lumbered off. Yes, it was a hippo. I was hoping for a leopard.
You guessed it, I had blank photo's. Cannot blame the hippo for walking off with people like us trying to see and snap in the dark. It's not as if they are that tiny.
We were still up at the crack of dawn the next day for our morning drive, hippos in the rive having a good old grunt. We were minus our new good friends who found it difficult getting up that early.
Would see them again that evening for , well maybe a treat or two!!
Some photo's of mine
And my painting of the hippo.
Wishing you all a good week.
