Beetles buzzing around everywhere. We have the big black rhino beetles buzzing around in the flowering bushes and around the plants in the garden. I seem to always be turning one over when they have crash landed on the ground or ended up in the bird bath.
When I was at boarding school in Eldoret, Kenya I was occasionally invited out to a friends family farm for the weekend. This place was a child's delight. My friend and I would go out onto the fields and help bring the herd of cows back for milking. Other times we  would sit down and rest our backs against any cows that were lying down to eat our sandwiches, and watch the dung beetles at work. It was fun to move their ball of dung along and watch the beetle go looking for it and then start rolling it back along again. Back at the farm her mother would have breakfast ready, steaming bowls of porridge with fresh cows milk and cream on top. Having had boarding school food this was heaven!! Rides on her Dad's tractor, playing in the stream, home cooked food and heavenly cake at teatime. Why couldn't I have been a day pupil and not a boarder. But then I suppose I would not have enjoyed these treats like I did.

'Bird' is nearly finished. I have practically finished the background, fancied a nice bright colour. I now have to go over all the head feathers and bring them out properly and tidy up any other areas that need it.

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter next week.
