Meanwhile standing out on the patch of grass watching the sun rising over the village, a few miles away from the rock, the warm rays hitting his face, Dave watched Jenny feeding a stray cat. How he loved her and her gentle ways, although he knew she could be a force to be reckoned with if upset. Van Piet and his cronies had better watch out.
He thought back to the first time he had met her.
They had met while she was on secondment to Singapore. There had been an increase in the illegal trade on ivory and she had joined forces with the special police to track the organisation behind the trade. After many months they had finally apprehended the leader who was now behind bars as were his mates.
Whilst at the airport waiting to fly back to the U.K. he had asked if he could share her table.
Several planes had been delayed due to a typhoon, so every inch of airport space was filled with bodies, some sleeping on their bags, others looking bleary eyed at the announcement boards as to what was happening.
He had told her he had been on a visit to friends and after a relaxing break was on his way home. He was going to be seconded to another department in the police force where he was now working.
Dave leaned back in his chair and studied this quiet attractive lady in front of him. She had introduced herself as Jenny. Long blond hair that was tied back showed off a pretty face with attractive dimples in her cheeks. Startling green eyes under dark lashes squinted at him against the sun that had suddenly shone through the big airport lounge windows.
"Looks like the weather is on the change, about time too, did not fancy having to spend the night here like some of these poor people". Around them people were getting up and the hustle and bustle of an airport coming back to life was all around them.
They had parted and gone there separate ways.
Going into work the following week he had be shown into an office to discuss his new appointment. There sitting in an easy chair was Jenny. He would be joining her and the team in hunting down the people involved in the illegal trading of animals and ivory.
They had got on well and a year later had married on a quiet beach in the Caribbean. They now worked together all the time and knew each other ways and thoughts without sometimes having to speak.
This suited some operations as being a couple they did not stand out when being undercover. 'Just two love birds on holiday'
Now here they were nearly at the end of this journey. They were on special secondment to the parks security police. This was their undercover work. Tracking and apprehending culprits where needed. They had the men in place, and knew where it was all going down. Luckily they had some reliable sources within the parks staff.
Now they were just hoping the 'Arab' as he was known would be on this trip, and also Van Piet who they knew from old, and that they could finally catch them. They had been following Van Piet's movements now for some time. They knew this order was for the arab, but so far had unfortunately been unable to get him red-handed with his imported animals. He had built up quite a vast animal park of his own. Wouldn't be so bad if he had taken the legal route. There were good zoos and parks around happy to exchange and relocate. But no, he wanted some rare and endangered species.
Well, this time they would get him. He would then become the caged animal.

Hope to catch up with you again next week.
