Wow, just hit the 4000 viewings, fantastic.

This was to be our first real winter here in Drouseia. We knew it could get colder here in Cyprus as when we were over looking for property, it was winter time. Trousers and a light jacket was all that was really needed, although nights were colder.
This is not what we expected to wake up to one morning. Snow and coming down quite thickly. The dogs thought it was great fun to run around in and try and catch the flakes. Tess in her wisdom preferred to keep in the warm. Most of these mountain villages have some mist coming down at times,  this comes across the valleys, but snow here. It should stay up in Troodos mountains were you can ski in the winter season, and then swim in the sea in the afternoon. Not that I have tried that! Thankfully we feel that we are only on top of the hill, not right up in the mountains. It's lovely to look out of the windows in the house to the mountains. Some days you feel you could stretch out and touch them.

'What is the cold stuff!

'Who passed by here?'

We took ourselves out for a drive to see the beauty of it all. and it was beautiful. Mountains and valleys covered in white.Trees glistening in the sunlight, and the beautiful blue sky that came with it. Real postcard stuff.

We are so lucky out here with these views, where else can you look down into a valley, up to the snowy peaks and then into life in a village all from a window, better still from the garden. Others would pay the earth when buying property for these views.
I was lovely to see children who had maybe never seen snow before playing with it, snowballs being thrown around.
A couple of pickups passed me on the road with snow piled into them. Some locals had been up to the mountain to collect it for the children to play in. This is something you do not see in England! We only tend to moan about it.But I can imagine the fun the children had. Even saw some children making a  snowman.Yes, the big kids that we are Klaus built one as well in the garden. Here today, gone the next!!

 Just had to have one.

Yes, I had a little moan as well when seeing a few shrivelled up plants in their pots, the weather had been too cold for them. A trip down to the local nursery to repot with new ones coming up.
Thankfully not all the winters are like this. We seem to get a harder winter only every so often, having said that people overseas would laugh at our so cold bad one. Like a spring day over there! Can remember talking on the phone to the family and saying it was cold that day, only 10c, in the morning, that of course can be an english summer day.

Now to the art side. The old boat is coming along slowly, it's really fiddly with all the rails and lines and things. Luckily it is old and rustic at the moment so I am hoping I can keep it looking that way. I expect next time I drive down to the harbour to have a look, the fisherman will have painted it!! Oh well, I am keeping the old worn look.

Do keep following me and see how it comes along.
