Life out here in Cyprus gives us little surprises. Life is never boring out here.
The other day whilst washing up, yes, we still have to do these mundane chores out here whilst living in the sun. I know some of you think we just lie out in the sun and drink cocktails!
I heard the tinkle of bells, sounded like the goat bells, but louder than usual. You get used to stopping along the main road for them to cross over on their way to a field.
I went out into the garden to see some goats and a couple of sheep who had obviously wandered off from the herd somewhere, happily munching on our plants.
With a lot of shooing, and hand clapping I got them to at least lift their heads and look at me,
The dogs were barking like mad in the house, but could not let them loose to help. Benji our smaller dog who is 'boss' would have had them on their way to the other side of the island in seconds. He does not like anything else in his garden.
Finally they left leaving some nice fresh manure for us!!
They have a meat dish here called 'Kleftico' meaning stolen goat, once stolen and the head chopped off, there was no telling who it belonged to! This is a favourite dish of mine, the meat not the head! (cooked of course) We certainly could have had some!!! Or
maybe we could have turned our hand to farming!
Me, Benji chase something.
Whilst watching T.V. later on that evening, Klaus looks at me and asks if he is seeing things. 'I just saw a donkey eating the Aloe Vera plant.
I went over to the window and yes, there is a village donkey trying some other plants in the garden.
Same procedure as the morning to get it to move, seemed it knows where it came from as after having a walk around trotted off down the road.
I always fancied having a donkey!!!!
This had certainly been one of those weird days.
Our village donkey or one of them. |
Picture of the day would just have to be my only one of a local donkey

Do hope you are enjoying the different style of my blog, and come back next week, a little tale from African times.

As you can see I have now started on the nose area and jowls. All those creases and flabby skin hanging around! But I am slowly getting there.
Life is never boring with animals about - your artwork is amazing as always can't believe how much detail you can get.
