Here we are again out in the Savannah, feeling at home amongst the animals who seem to be our friends now.
We sit and watch some warthogs running along, their tails up in the air like ariels. Little piglets trying hard to keep up with the adults. They look so cute this tiny little things.
Once they have found the right place some get down onto their front knees to eat, looking like they are praying while shuffling along trying to dig tasty roots up with their tusks. There is always one on the lookout for danger. Guard duty must get boring when you can see your mates stuffing their faces. To us the grass looks very dry and not so nourishing, thankfully I am not a warthog!

'A big boy' |
This one got so close I thought it was going to poke it's head right in the window. I was having to back away at the car window with the camera.
Getting back to camp that evening we find a family of warthogs in the grounds, grass was obviously greener this side and I suppose there might be a tasty morsel around the kitchen area, all those scraps being thrown out, yum, yum. The staff around these camps always seem to encourage the less dangerous animals for you to see. It was quite amazing that I could actually walk this close up to them. I did watch out for the tusks though, did not fancy being gored if they thought I was after their food. It's great to see that the wildlife around is appreciated. I know this is what brings the money into these countries with people visiting the safari parks. I would much rather see the animal in it's natural surround, although a lot of people are not fortunate enough to have done this.
'There's nothing like a good scratch' |

'Just having a scratch' |
Join us again next week, still lots to see and do.
-----------------------------------------------
Have dug out a picture of the African Wild Dog, thought this would make a nice picture. I want to do a proper landscape on this one. I will do this completely in pastels.
Now to the Bird's.
Who's a pretty Boy' |
I have to admit I was quite chuffed with this second attempt at acrylics. I know I have to learn a lot more, but hopefully that will come in time. The pastels are certainly more flexible and let you have more control.
Come back next week to see how the new picture is coming on.
