'Jambo,Jambo, Rafiki' ( Hello, Hello, Friends)
Having crossed over the river on the old ferry, this was the kind that was pulled along by hand on the rope. There would be a couple of cars, maybe a lorry, bicycles laden up with food and household items. Squawking chickens in woven baskets, and people milling around everywhere all waiting to cross over. Once finally over we pass through the village and seeing some goats reminded me of the time I had 'Billy' my goat.
My father having won their cricket match and feeling rather happy after a few beers celebrated at the sports bar with the rest of the team.
We drove back through a little village on the way home and passed some goats with tiny kids. They were so cute and he was feeling happy, with a little persuasion he bought me one. When we got home, I proudly led my baby goat on its rope into the lounge to show mum, who unknown to us was entertaining the new high commissioner and his wife to tea. My grubby appearance, and the goat that left some droppings on the lounge carpet were not greeted as I had expected. My father and I were both banished out of the house. My father allowed back when spruced up!! Whenever I see little goats this comes flooding back to me.
My goat grew up trying to eat the washing, the flowers and anything it could get hold of. I was finally persuaded to let our cook's brother have it for his farm in exchange for some highly coloured chickens which at least gave us some eggs and a few chicks. Although I sound like a frightful child, I really wasn't that bad!
I have always fancied having a donkey, 'Maybe one day!!!'
I can never see enough of these wonderful beasts as you can see from the amount of pictures I have painted of them.
A pair of ostrich cross over in front of us, another very graceful bird when doing their courtship dance. But if you are ever near enough to one, watch the peck, it can be a mighty painful nip!
Back at our camp we see a touching sight, an orphaned baby zebra being cared for by the camp staff.
My picture of the week was inspired from village life.

Update of Pictures in Progress
I have filled in some more of the feathers of both birds, and started the outline for the feet. So far so good! The paint has not run away from me just yet. still managing to keep it on the board and not all over me!
