Here we go again friends, load up into the land rover, it's off on the dusty road to our next lodge.
As I explained before this one we are going to is built up in trees over a waterhole. 'One of the best tree houses any big kid would love, we certainly will.' Pity no swinging through the trees like Tarzan!
Our room has a huge branch growing through it, and when Klaus went for a quick freshen up in the shower room along a passage, no en-suite here, had a frog inside the shower with him. Geckos run everywhere as do other creepy crawlies, but that is a way of life out here in the wilderness. no point in being scared of this, you are bigger than them ( just remember that!) especially as you hear a screech from somewhere as someone meets a tiny ??

Out for the game drive we come across this bull elephant.'no', he is not going to move, he is going to stand right here and contemplating life! We wait, and wait, we can't get round him, and this is the only way forwards.
Finally, after what seems like a wait in a furnace he decides to move, but only to lumber along in front of us.
Talk about us being in his way. 'Poly, poly as they say, slowly slowly. why hurry!
Well at least while waiting we could watch a few weaver birds in the trees, and admire the many butterflies hovering around, not that I managed to get a photo of any butterflies.

Not such a long day today, so back to the lodge. If we are lucky can watch and feed the bush babies tonight if they come down to the terrace. You can walk around on the stilted platforms and see the monkeys, maybe a couple of tree frogs and whatever else might be around. then once it is dark and under a beautiful starry sky, which I think is always the best out in Africa, you can catch glimpses of bats darting around.
But first a good shower, probably with an odd frog or two to keep you company, wonder what their favourite shower gel is?
Talking of bathtime here is this weeks picture.

Come back next week for more 'Travel Tales'
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This weeks progress of the pictures.
As you can see I have worked on both the front legs and into the paws. I have also filled in on the fur where it was still a little patchy. Next it will be the snow in the foreground, and touch up on the bushes. This is of course all in acrylic. Once I have finished those areas I can go back to the wolf with no fear of smudging anything. ( hopefully) I am pleased with this picture so far, the two mediums seem to be working well with each other.
The Birds.
Not a lot done to this picture this week. I have touched up the feathers and worked a little more on the branch, this does not really show up in a photo at the moment.
Hopefully will have more to show next week and also I should have the wolf finished.
Do come back and watch this space.
