As we both love watching the wildlife here, mainly our spiney tailed lizards, and normal garden ones, along with a variety of birds, decided to build a birdbath for all.

Klaus went hunting around the field and with some large rocks, stones and rubble and pebbles, built a rockery with the bird bath on top.

Looking forward to watching some drinking, bathing and a few squabbles as to who gets in first!

Then what comes next, I know we need it, but not quite like this. 1/2 hour mini style typhoon thunderstorm.

Thankfully the field is a little lower than our drive.

A lovely end to a storm.  Birdbath built in time, but not needed right this minute. Birds and all of us are all tucked away in the dry.

Take care and stay safe, and see you next week.

A few new projects on the go.

This has been a busy week working on bugs galore!

Klaus did some multi coloured ones which I painted faces on, and I just love some of the coloured pebbles as they are. This is becoming a bug house, but they are just such fun to do.

                                                                     Coming to life

                                                                           Some left plain.

Our three large stones now on the wall. Certainly brightens up the area.

                                                                    Take care and stay safe

                                                                      Catch up next week.

The base coat has now dried on my stone, so eyes down with acrylic paints and pencils to bring the stone to life.

A visit to the olive press.

Our landlord  Argarpious owns the olive press at the back of a field from our house, so decided to have a walk up there to have a look at what all goes on to make the olive oil.

                                                               From tree to collection shute

This factory is huge and all automated.
Argarpious kindly started it all off so as I could see how it all worked.

Several people can have their olives pressed all at the same time.
Huge machines and a steady humming going on.

Just one lot coming out.

The bottle of oil given to us.

Thank you for showing me how it all works.

This pile of  crushed stones waste from the pressed olives, gets dried and made into blocks of fuel for use in fires and heating.

BUGS ALIVE from the man cave!

Klaus has been busy having fun. I love the hump backed bugs.

Take care and stay safe.

See you next week.

Having sorted through some of the pebbles and a look at some stones, thought about a mini turtle.

Laid out ready.

Being painted

Eyes added and stuck onto stone.
Ready now to be varnished

Looking at you

                                                                        Back view.

GOURDS.

Another lamp carved out. will go down to 'That Nice Shop' in Polis.

Meet Octopussy.

Thought this was rather a quirky orange.

'Here's looking at you all'.
Stay safe and take care.

Thank you to my two friends  John and Jill who suggested some pebble feet to me.  With Klaus having the bugs hanging on the wall by the pool shower, thought some feet would look good there as well.

Had to look hard to find the right shapes, and also have a few deformed feet, well some of us have odd shaped toes I am sure.

First off, I had the left foot the wrong way round. Thankfully we noticed this before Klaus glued them down for me on my painted plank of wood.

Big toes and others now put the right way round.

Then up the wood they go.

Some more interesting pebbles that give ideas.

I can see one that looks like it has two big eyes on it!

                                                                        GOURDS.

Another pretty lamp gourd made.

Take care and stay safe wherever you are.

See you next week.

Saturday, 10 October 2020

Bug mania has arrived here in Goudi with the help of Klaus.  He decided to make some bugs/ladybirds of his own for fun, and had great fun doing his project.

Certainly a lot more fun the hunched over carving gourds, which he does enjoy, but it gets hot out in the shed and dusty with all the drilling, especially if you are wearing a mask for safety.

First find a plank of wood and paint it, then let you imagination run wild!

'Keeping an eye on you all'

Slowly designing it.

Looking great by the pool shower.

Whilst sorting out through some collected pebbles came across this.
A pebble with a smiley face. It does not rub off, is actually in the stone. How I wonder did it get there?

Do catch up with me next week, I have an idea for my next project.
Stay safe and keep well.
